  • WHAT IS A SEMI-PERMANENT TATTOO VS. A REGULAR TATTOO?
The purpose of semi-permanent makeup tattooing is to enhance the natural features of a client. Permanent makeup is softer and more subtle—it is meant to be a natural-looking enhancement. Traditional body tattoo inks can often be much more concentrated while many cosmetic tattoo inks are designed to gently fade over time. Semi-permanent makeup is also implanted into the skin more superficially vs. body tattooing, which is implanted deeper into the skin layers for longer staying power. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over the years as client’s natural coloring and facial changes occur.

  • HOW LONG DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP LAST?
Permanent makeup can last up to 1-3 years. A touch up is included in all permanent makeup services at 4-10 weeks after the initial appointment, but it is not required. Clients that choose a soft ombré or microblading application, a light color shade, did not follow the aftercare instructions or are getting corrective work done, may require more touch up appointments. Factors that will cause your permanent makeup application to fade faster include: tanning bed & sun exposure, regular exfoliation, oily skin, profuse sweating (e.g. hot yoga 5x/week), using skin products with strong active ingredients (e.g. retinol, AHAs), and medical conditions. We recommend at maximum one yearly "color boost" touch-up to maintain the procedure’s color however, we do advocate holding off for as long as possible to maintain skin integrity. Permanent makeup is intended to offer daily functionality and time-savings—therefore, if after a year or two, you may need to add a touch of makeup, this is a process that takes only 30 seconds or less vs. the full 5-10 minutes prior to getting permanent makeup done, and you are still enjoying the benefits and the investment of this procedure.
